I have setup a Yahoo baseball league for the upcoming season.  It is setup for eight teams this year.  I am opening it up to family first and then I’ll fill it out with friends.

Dunhill Fab Family Update

Well we all seem to be doing a little better over here.  Braylen actually seems to be doing the best not showing any symptoms.  I continue to just have an extermely runny nose.  So much in fact that now when I blow my nose Braylen is putting his hand up to his nose and actually blowing.  I put a kleenex up to his nose and he blew some little snots out of his nose.

Jodi is also doing better, however she is battling a bad headache this evening.

Braylen and some new words*******

Apple, Elmo, Coat, Hat, Milk

Braylen has rediscovered his dancing elmo doll.  Jodi and I just stared at each other as he walked by him and yelled ELMO. So we put him on the ground turned him on and watched the two of them dance.  We got it on video, its really cute.

With this next thing that we found Braylen likes might wind up with him going into a foster home.  Jodi and I were playing with him and a bed sheet (something Jodi and him do at their Sat. playgroup).  Well add me to the mix and of course I want to make it more fun.  So we put Braylen on top of the sheet, picked it up (looks like a hamock) and lightly and I stress lightly toss him around.  He thinks it is just a scream.  He climbs on top with one of his ducks and off he goes.

What An Awful Week!

Sick! Sick! Sick!  The Fab Family has been hit by the dreaded Flu!  Poor Braylen had a double ear infection and upper respiratory infection over last weekend and into this week and we were all feeling for him.  Well, before long we were all feeling pretty awful ourselves.

Brian and Rich said they weren’t feeling to well early in the week, then I started with a terrible tight cough on Tuesday.  Well, by Wednesday afternoon I had diarrhea and vomiting.  Jodi was the next to get it, having to stay home from work on Wednesday.  Rich was going to work from home on Wednesday because I was sick, but by mid-morning he was sick as well.  Brian had to leave work early on Wednesday because he was sick.  Jenn was doing okay up to Thursday morning.  She felt fine, but started with the tight cough.  By that evening her chest ached as mine had, but she was still feeling fine.  That didn’t last long.  Friday morning she woke with the Flu.  My mother had a Flu Shot a couple months ago, but we made sure she stayed in her room with the door closed most of the time, just in case!  Jenn, being the last to fall, still isn’t doing too well, but the rest of us are on the mend.

I’ve never had a Flu Shot and I’ve heard good and bad things about them.  When I saw my doctor last Fall, she asked if I wanted a shot.  I told her I’d never had one and wasn’t sure.  She didn’t press my to have one.  Next year I’m going to rethink that decision!  I’ve been pretty healthy.  Haven’t even had a really bad cold that lasted more than three or four days.  My last really bad case of Flu was back in 1997, though I did have a milder Flu last year.  I’m going to also rethink what vitamins I’ve be taking.

Hope everyone else is healthy and stays that way!!!

For the Love of Dogs?

[Admin note: Sorry Aunt Mary, but I editted the title.  Something strange happened.  -S]

What’s wrong with this picture?

Len and I have been taking care of Ciccio for Lisa and Nick while they are vacationing in Florida for the winter break week. Does that sound right? I didn’t think so!

We love Ciccio (cheech-o), however he is still a puppy and a huge puppy at that. That combination has left us a bit worn out. He never seems to tire out and we are doing our best to make that happen! Barney thinks he has been attacked by a tornado, because Ciccio comes at him from all sides. Although, when Barn has had enough, he does give Ciccio a sound barking and a bit of snarling which makes Ciccio jump away for at least 30 seconds! We do have his taking of allergy pills licked (pun intended). Coated with peanut butter, they just slide down his throat once he has licked them off our fingers. It’s an art to know when to pull your fingers away before you feel his teeth! We have to have a separate bit of peanut butter for Barney (the placebo, I guess) or else he feels left out! Dogs are so much fun!!!!

Following Scooter Chronicles

Just want to continue what Scott has been doing on his own blog in regards to beers.  I too enjoy nothing better then a fine brewed pint of beer.  I would like to hear everyone elses take and experience on their findings.  Of course with everything else that goes on in our Fabirkiewicz household I don’t have a lot of time to enjoy such fine treats as these but when going out with Jodi for a nice dinner or a free weekend I would like to try some new sauce (what my friends and I refer to it as).

So here is one of my all time favorites which is actually a hard cider.  I first discovered this new sauce in a really cool tavern in Windsor called Patrick O’Ryans.  Todd and Jodi have gone there a few times with me.  I can sum up this cider in one simple word “REFRESHING”.  It has such a clean sweet taste to it.  When we use to visit Patty O’s on a semi regular basis, I would make sure to always start with a pint and end my night with a pint.

Maybe next time the gang is all in town together we can take a trip across and go get our fill.  It has been a couple of years since I was there last, but wouldn’t be hard to pick up where I left off.

Here is a list of just some of what they have on tap there.

Alexander Keith’s India Pale Ale, Kronenbourg 1664, Boddingtons Pub Ale, Leffe Blonde, Caffery’s Irish Ale, Moosehead Lager, Newcastle Brown Ale, Fuller’s ESB, Fuller’s London Pride Ale, Smithwick’s Authentic Irish Ale, Guinness Stout, Stella Artois, Hacker -Pschorr Weisse, Tennent’s Lager, Hoegaarden, Kilkenny Cream Ale…….to name a few.

Fudge update

Fudge went to see Dr. Hackel yesterday to see how her cancer is doing.  They took X-rays of her chest which came back negative (a good thing).  She also received her first in a series of 8 chemotherpy treatment.

Jodi and I were concerned about going this route with her for a couple of reasons.  One our first look into this process had a price tag of over 3 thousand dollars, second was the pain that Fudge would have to indure.  Well our doctor was able to perform the chemo (instead of a special vet) for around 125 dollars a treatment (8 x 125).  Also with this type of treatment Fudge shouldn’t feel to much side effects, and most importantly won’t loose her hair.  Although that might be kind of funny to see Fudge without any hair.  As of this morning Fudge seems to be in good spirits and isn’t showing any negative signs from her treatment last night.

Please keep our little Fudgee girl in your prayers.  I’m sure she will repay all of you with a ton of licks.

Braylen Update

HEALTH*****

Well Braylen kept Jodi and I up most of Friday night, and Saturday morning.  So Jodi took the little guy to urgent care on Sunday and found that he had a double ear infection and a upper resp. infection.  As of this morning Braylen is in good spirits and slept very good last night.

Dora*****

Braylen learned this weekend how to chant for Dora.  He walks around the living room chanting DORA DORA DORA DORA.  It is very cute.

 Helping Out*****

We have started to try to engage Braylen in doing little things around the house such as I would hand him something and say give this to momma, and he has.  We also have him from time to time pick up the dogs food bowls from the floor and either put them on the counter or in the sink.  Lastly what he has learned this week is when we change a wet diaper (and only a wet diaper) we ask him if he can put it in the garbage for us.  He walks over so proudly to the can, lifts up the lid and slams it home.

Going to the Movies, and Grocery Shopping************

Jodi learned this weekend how to combine the two events.  Jodi went grocery shopping (so I could finish my homework) and thought that she should bring along the portable DVD player we got from our company X-mas party.  Well Jodi said that Braylen was an absolute angel as he watched Dora all thoughout the store.
