As you may have already noticed, there is a new header on our web site. This is what David came up with, with my help. Those are the cartoon characters of all of us. We are lined up in alphabetical order. Some of you don’t have much distiction between others, because there wasn’t much we could do. Others we knew little nuances that would work. Some of them we were stretching, like Nick having a baseball cap on.
Once David gets some time, though it’s not a priority, you will be able to click on the individual faces and the site will sort out that person’s posts and then list only those for you.

Hey gang. Like I mentioned before, we should watch the size of the images we upload. We can resize them with the WordPress software the site runs on, but it is best to get them down to a more managable size before uploading them. A good rule of thumb is to keep the images no larger then 450 pixels wide.
You can download a software that is good to resize and crop images. It is called Irfanview and it’s free.
IrfanView Web Site
If you fear downloading something from the internet, there is Microsoft Photo Editor, which should be loaded into your PC’s already, since I assume all of us are using Mr. Gates “wonderful” software. (Sarcasm in quotes.)

Our first assignment was to visit St. Johns Baptist church which was the first place the group started working with. Even knowing the storm tore the roof off completly this church was still handing out supplies to people in need. Talk about an act of kindness.
This picture is what the church looked like without a roof. The small white building in front still had its roof and was housing the supplies.

Here is what the church looked like from the inside.

We wanted to get the fallen debris off the good roof and put some tarps up to protect from the water leaks. I was amazed to watch the group walk up and within 5 minutes was up on the roof working away. We cut wood from the roof and built a make shift ladder to get on top. Of course here is where I made my first polish mistake. As I was gather good 2 x 4 to make the ladder I stepped on a big nail. Right then I felt it go into my boot and foot. I didn’t want to be the one that stopped the group, nor be a hazzard to the group, so I kept on working and thought I would look at it later.
We had the roof completed in about 1 hour and were off to do some work in the small town. The one thing that I didn’t ever think of until now was these people we were helping didn’t have one once of insurance. If it wasn’t for church groups and small volunteer groups these people would have to take care of themselves. As you will read in my posts this was the case for most of the people in this area. We saw house after house that not one single thing had been done to fix the problems. In most of these houses as well the people continued to live, because they simply have no were to go.

Just in case you didn’t see David’s comment, Spell Check is now loaded into the system. You can find it in the top bar along with the bold, italic and underline tools. It is the button with “ABC” and a check mark. It opens a separate window and you go from there.
[David Edit] — Here is what the button looks like. It is highlighted in blue below.
