Fudge update

February 20th, 2006 at 07:34am Brian

Fudge went to see Dr. Hackel yesterday to see how her cancer is doing.  They took X-rays of her chest which came back negative (a good thing).  She also received her first in a series of 8 chemotherpy treatment.

Jodi and I were concerned about going this route with her for a couple of reasons.  One our first look into this process had a price tag of over 3 thousand dollars, second was the pain that Fudge would have to indure.  Well our doctor was able to perform the chemo (instead of a special vet) for around 125 dollars a treatment (8 x 125).  Also with this type of treatment Fudge shouldn’t feel to much side effects, and most importantly won’t loose her hair.  Although that might be kind of funny to see Fudge without any hair.  As of this morning Fudge seems to be in good spirits and isn’t showing any negative signs from her treatment last night.

Please keep our little Fudgee girl in your prayers.  I’m sure she will repay all of you with a ton of licks.

Fudgee is always in my thoughts. She is one very special dog, but Brian, there is nothing “little” about Fudge!

Fudge is in my thoughts. It’s such a shame that a great dog like Fudge has to go thru this. I am sure that Abby is pulling for her friend as well. Thank you for the update on her… I will be keeping an eye out for other.

Thanks for the update Brian. We were wondering how she was doing, but kept forgetting to ask.

Sorry to hear about Fudge. I was checking the website from my mom and dad’s which is the explanation for my mom’s email. It’s not an easy thing to deal with. We struggled with wha tto do about aspen when she was diagnosed with it. Obviosly she lost the leg in order to stop it, but when it popped up again it was even harder to make a decision. Good luck with everything. There is a great animal oncologist in Canton. It;s far away and sounds like you already have a good doctor. If you ever want a second oppinion, let me know, we still have the number.

The second time when it cam back, we just decide to make Aspen as comfortable as possible. It’s a hard thing to deal with. We get so attached and don’t want to lose them.

Val and I will keep her in our thoughts

    John
