MMR

I subscribe to a email newsletter from this peditrician and this was the message I got today.  I thought it was interesting.  I have not heard the MMR shot isn’t a lifelong immunization.  It came with a graph too, but it didn’t copy into this message.  It just shows the age that gets mumps is 18-22.  Thought I’d share……..

………

You may have heard of the recent outbreaks of Mumps in some of the northern states. It was primarily in the late teens and 20-30 year olds. It seems that the immunity of the MMR is not lifelong. Just as we were seeing Pertussis in the young adults because their immunity wore off. Now we give a TdaP to the 12-14 year olds so they don’t have a three month cough and not give it to the 2 month old babies that have not had a vaccine yet. It sounds like we need to give the MMR to the 12-14 year olds also.

Thanks for the info Jodi. You are bound to keep all of us healthy with your research/finds.

(Though the post title threw me for a loop, since WMMR [known as MMR] is the rock ‘n roll radio station out of Philly that I believe is owned by the same company that owns WRIF and even has their version of Arthur Penhallow, his name being Pierre Robert [RO-BEAR].)
