Murray’s goodbye
May 23rd, 2006 at 08:26am Jodi
It is with great sadness that we have decided to put Murray to rest this coming weekend.
If you weren’t aware, Murray has kidney failure which now has resulted in 20% kidney function. The doctor says he could have 30% left, but more likely only 20%. He has bladder and bowel loss, and bascially is out of it. His quality of life is not what it should be.
It’s a very hard decision to make, to know that you hold the life of someone else in your hands and your decision. And though for selfish reasons, we want to prolong Murray, it’s not what is fair to him. We were Murray’s third home, and longest home in his 13 years. We’ve given him everything we could to make these past 6 years comfortable and secure. And though he came to us with many “issues”, we loved him none the less because of them.
He will be missed, but heaven will be even more special having him. We know he will be waiting at the pearly gates for us (most likely begging for french fries).
I would like to ask if everyone could say a little prayer for Murray this week.
Thank you.

One of my most favorite things about Murray is how many people loved him. Even knowing that he has many issues eveyone that has had the chance to meet him adores him. I have a large group of people here at work that are always asking how Mur dog is doing.
I will miss my buddy very much but I know that he will be in a better place. Like Jodi said, he will be there waiting to unite with us once again when we get to the pearly gates.

It is hard to see your pet suffering. You are making the right decision. Our first dog, Pogo, was suffering the same way and it was hard for us to see her go. When they are with you that long, they are family. All of you will be in our thoughts and prayers this weekend.
Love, Aunt Mary

Sorry to hear about Murray. But I think you did the best for him, too.
(Wow Aunt Mary, you are reviving old memories with bringing up Pogo.)

It’s always hard to lose a pet. After losing our first dog, Nicky, suddenly and then many years later having to make the decision to put Cookie down, no more pets for us. Of course, we have become very attached to all our granddogs, and will certainly miss good buddy Murray. Hope he catches up with Nicky and Cookie romping in those sunny, warm fields in heaven!

I am very sorry to hear about this very sad news. Murray and all of you are in my prayers.
We lost Benny (our family dog) when I was 19. I got him when I was 7. He helped me get over my fear of dogs, as I was chased by one when I was 3.
You never forget the last moments with them.
Just remember that he is in a better place where there is no pain, no sadness.
