Georgia Update

Well as it closes in on my 6 month anniversary since I’ve been down here I thought I would give a little update.

Apartment.  My lease term is coming up for renewal and I received a new contract.  Of course this one is for 45 more dollars each month.  If moving wouldn’t be such a pain (or me just being lazy) I would try to move.  But between moving and just trying to find an apartment that isn’t disgusting down here probably wouldn’t be worth it.  So I have decided to go ahead and sign on for another 6 months.

Church.  I went to a Luthern church a few months ago that just didn’t hit me as a church that I would want to call home.  Yesterday I ventured out again to try to find a good Luthern church buried in a sea of Baptist churchs.  Well I can say that I found an awesome one.  It is called Christ the King http://www.ctklutheran.org/index.htm.  It is a very large newer church.  The age range in there really seemed to be mixed.  There was young families to senior citizens and everything in the middle.  The pastor seemed like a really good guy and delivered a very useful sermon.  I plan on attending next week and see where that takes me.

Weather.  Ok I know I won’t get any sympathy from my Northern family but it has been very cold this past week with tempatures not getting out of the low 40’s.  On Saturday I went to the local park to do some walking/jogging and with the wind blowing pretty hard I found myself very cold.  But not to worry this week we are suppose to get back into the the 60’s and maybe even touch 70.

School.  I have three weeks of my online Accounting class left which can’t get here fast enough.  I just found out last week some good news that I can take my final exam down here in Georgia which was to be an on campus test in Michigan.  The bad news is with posting that the test is to be a closed book no notes test.  Which for Accounting is going to be very difficult.  There are a lot of formula’s and things of that nature that I know I can’t possibly compute to memory.  So I will just do my best.  Currently my grade is a 84.562%.  The second eight weeks I have two classes scheduled.  One english and one history class both of which will be online through Macomb.

Job.  Last week I was asked to speak for a couple of minutes in the Sales meeting on a new project that I’m working on.  I had a conference call that morning so I only went to the meeting at the end where my time slot was scheduled.  When I got there I had a few minutes before my part to get comfortable to the room.  When I was up, I got introduced to the team (have met most of them already) and my BIG boss said that he was going to steal my first minute of time.  He proceeded to say some extermely nice things about me.  He said that I am the best thing the warehouse has seen in 21 years.  He said that I have uncovered things that people didn’t even know existed and that I am not afraid to take them head on.  He also went on to say that I have renewed energy to not only the warehouse but to the entire company down here.  WOW that was a lot to take in.

Later in the week there was a meeting at one of our smaller branches in Covington, GA where some warehouse issues came up.  Well my boss brought my name up as someone who has done a lot of great things here and that I might be able to help them out as well.  So hopefully this week I will be contacting Covington and setting some trips down there.  They want me to help set up the warehouse and assit them in running some reports to keep things in order.  As Jodi knows this is exactly the kind of steps that I’m looking to take.  I want to have some type of involvement in all of the branches that are here in Georgia which equals 4.  So I have control of this one in Norcross, will start to get my feet wet in Covington which will leave just two more to work on.

Family.  Last week I had a really long day as I found myself just missing Jodi and Braylen something awfull.  I can’t wait until there are here full time and I don’t have to rely on a couple of phone calls each day to get my fix.  I miss my family very much and I’m counting the days until they come back down in the middle of March.

It’s so great to hear how well things are going with the job. You must feel really good about reaching some of your goals and you have the drive to push ahead to achieving more. Congratulations on a great job!!

Hope all goes well with the final exam. I’ll keep that in my prayers.

Don’t even talked about the weather! I’m thrilled beyond words the temp got over 30 degrees today and we are looking at 40 degrees by the weekend!!

I so hope Spring brings a great offer on the house. I know how much Braylen misses his Daddy, and this is terrible on you and Jodi. I’ll miss Braylen something awful, but I would rather see you guys all together again. Just hang in a little longer!!
