Back Home

We rolled into our driveway around 5:00pm last night as everyone in the car was sick. No more Highway 68!!!! Our GPS took us the fastest way, which also was the shortest way home (cutting off about 30 miles) but came at a price. Everyone got car sick…..to the point that we had to pull over for Braylen to (as he put it) PUKE!!! Don’t worry he was talking about what he wanted for dinner soon after this pit stop. Looking at the map we went through the Cherokee National Forest and we were right on the North Carolina border. At one point when on I-75 Braylen said we were in North Carolina. He must have knew what was about to happen.

To further know that your off the beaten path we went through towns such as Ducktown, and Turtletown. Nice place but we will never ever go that way again!!!

Scary moment at the local airport

There is a small local airport in town called the Dekalb/Peachtree airport. They have a very nice park that sits back about 100 yards from the runway right under the air traffic control tower. Braylen of course is a big fan of this park and we go there often. Well last night I was cooking dinner and heard there was something going on with a small plane. So I stopped to catch the story and there was a small plane that was having landing gear problems and was running out his fuel so he could do an emergency landing. I got to watch the plane land safely as the back tires did give out on the plane but landed on its belly.

Future home site

Jodi took some pictures over the weekend of where our new house will go. The first picture is in front and the second picture is from the back of the property looking toward the street. You can see it is pretty steep but that is because in order to have a basement, it needs to be built into a hill. Our backyard should be pretty flat, which is not easy to find on basement lots.

New house!!!!!!

I will post in greater detail tonight after we offically sign off on the paperwork but over the weekend Jodi, Braylen, and I went to a Pulte sub division and put down a deposit on a new house. Of course right now it is only a pile of dirt but when complete it will look something like the picture above. More to follow.

These are some pictures I took from another home that is for sale in the community. These are up in the front of the sub for all to use.

Braylen’s First golf trip

Not this past weekend, but the weekend prior on Sunday I went to take Braylen to a local park. When we arrived there it turned out to be more of a baseball type complex with a little play area in the middle between ball fields. Well this park overlooked an executive golf course that I had played many times before (I did not know this park was next door). So after about only 20 minutes at the park Braylen seemed to be getting bored as most of the kids were heading home from baseball practice. So I asked Braylen if he wanted to go hit some golf balls, which he said sure.

So we headed over only to find that the driving range was pretty full, which made me a little nervous with Braylen there. As I was paying for a small bucket of golf balls I asked the guy behind the counter if in the future I could take Braylen out onto the course with me. He said of course, and as a matter of fact you could go right now…….So I looked at Braylen and said do you want to hit golf balls or drive around with me in a golf cart? Well I’m sure you guessed Braylen jumped at the chance to go drive a golf cart.

Being that it was Sunday evening the course was not busy at all and Braylen and I headed off to play golf. I got Braylen to actually hit a few balls which he did really good at but he was more interested in pushing the pedals on the cart and racking out the sand traps. He did a wonderful job at listening to me and following the rules I set for him.

It was such a great bonding experience and I really didn’t care what I shot, as a matter of fact I didn’t even keep score. I was just so happy to be there with Braylen and to watch him. So I’m sure I will have to take him back there or to another course soon to try it again. I will just have to go at the end of the day when its not so busy so I don’t have to worry about pace of play and others out there that might hit a stray shot.

Lost Dogs

So yesterday I come home from work and decide to take Braylen outside to play for a little bit. Soon after stepping outside I see a stray dog coming right for me. I whistle for it to come to me as it quickly comes to me feet and lays down. The dog appears to be in very good health and is very friendly. So as I try to figure out what to do about this dog, I see a man trying to walk his small dog across the street as another dog is trailing them. So I ask the man if he knows who the dog following him belongs to and he says no. So as I get closer to him I notice that both the dog following him and the dog at my feet look very similar. So I call for the other dog to come to me and like the other he is very friendly but is missing one of his eyes.

While all of this is going on Braylen is sitting in my car watching all of this go on and like normal is asking all kinds of questions. So Jodi and I give the dogs some treats and dog food, as I make some calls to find a place for them to go. With little luck on the phone I move the two dogs to the back deck as we give them some water and I spend some time playing with them.

Now Braylen is sitting in the window staring at the dogs and is crying that he wants dogs like that. He says with tears coming down his face “When Fudge goes back to the pet store, I want two dogs like those”. To calm him down Jodi lets Braylen toss a couple of treats out the door to give to them.

After making a few more calls Jodi finds a animal hospital in Duluth (just down the street from my apartment) that has agreed to take the dogs in for the night until we can figure out what to do. So I load up the dogs into my car and drive them 20 minutes and drop them off at the vet.

Jodi decides to make some posts on a couple of sites listing the lost dogs as she come across a posting of someone who is looking for two dogs that very closely match these two dogs. It would take a long time to explain each dog but with the information we have Jodi and I are pretty sure these are the two dogs that have been missing since 12/01/2007. So Jodi has sent them an email and we are going to see what happens today.

At lunch time I am going to pick them up and take them to the county pound which does not put dogs down and hopefully we can contact the owners and have a happy ending. I will keep everyone posted.

PLEASE PLACE UPDATES HERE!!!!!!!

First off I want to say that the Fabs of the South really enjoyed seeing everyone this past Holiday. More importantly Braylen had a wonderful time playing with his cousins. Now that we are down here I think it is that much more important to have a place to go to stay connected with the family. Jodi and I check on this site all the time and if Braylen knew there were pictures here he could look at I’m sure he would be asking all the time.

I know that I hesistate sometimes posting things such as whats going on with Braylen more because I don’t want to be one of those parents that everytime I say something it starts out…..My son….. I’ve worked with some people who were like that and after awhile you want to say ENOUGH already about your son. So I try to keep that in mind.

With that said I want to hear about how everyone is doing especially my little nieces and nephews. So I challenge everyone to post more often so we can see everyone’s progress and successes. Scott does a great job with this on his own blog page as I go there also very often to not only hear about Nigel, but about everything in Pennsylvania and its happenings.

Lets all make this part of that New Years Resolution!!!!! Maybe this is one that we can all keep being that there is no calorie counting or exercise involved!!! :)

Oh Boy……..Its another Boy

Thats right Jodi had her first Doctor visit in Georgia today and we found out that baby number two is going to be another boy. The baby is up to 6oz and appears to be very active. The entire time the nurse was trying to get measurements, the baby was tossing and turning. Good reason why Jodi has been sick so much. Braylen went with us and it was fun explaining to him what we were seeing on the monitor.

Braylen didn’t seem happy nor sad with the news of a boy. I think more due to the fact that he is still catching up on sleep from the weekend. But he did a great job being a good boy at the Doctors office and was having a conversation with the front desk as we were leaving out the door.

More news to follow as Jodi and I now have to start thinking about little boy names.

How about them TIGERS!!!!!!

Well I have to say that I am very pleased with the latest Tiger deal. I think both players with have a great impact on the team. I hate to see that they had to give up Maybin in the deal but to get these two superstars you have to give up something. They now have what they are calling a “softball” type lineup. Meaning good luck trying to get someone out with all of that power.

BIG TRADE
