We got home from our trip out West on Tuesday, the day before Mary’s birthday. It is a trip everyone should take there has not been a photograph taken that can do justice to the Grand Canyon you look at and say nothing because there are no words to describe it. I did hike down into the canyon on the Bright Angle trail 1.5 miles with a vertical drop of 1100 ft. 40 min down and 90 min back up. All of thew things we saw were amazing. If any one is interested I can forward you the photos we took.
We were home 3 days then off again. Sarah and Dave were in Traverse City for a wedding so we went to visit with them Saturday thru Monday. I think we are home now for a few weeks until Thanksgiving which we will be spending in DC with Sarah and Dave

On Sept 25 we fly out of Detroit for Denver. From Denver we board the California Zephyr and ride the rails thru the Rockies to Grand Junction Utah. We then start a circle that will take us thru several National Parks in and around Moab Utah. In the morning we are off to Monument Valley, where many of the old John Wayne Westerns were filmed, we also visit a few other parks in the area befor arriving at Torret Utah for the night. Day six we visit Bryce Canyon, we will spend two nights in Mount Carmel Utah, the next day we tour Zion National Park. Next we will be off to The Grand Canyon for two days,the last day we rid aboard the Grand Canyon Railway. Day ten we board another train, the Verde Canyon Railroad which will take us to Winslow Arizona for the night. The following morning we board the Southwes Chief which will take us to Trinidad Arizona for the night. From there we board a motor coach for the ride back to Denver to fly home.
I think I will need a vacation when we get home. I have always wanted to see these places and Mary was watching a show on the Travel Chanel about train trips and we went from there and fornd this trip. The days are full we just were sent hour by hour plans for the days and some of them we must check out by 6;00 AM. I am sure Mary will be sending out a hilight slide show when we return.

If you like an assortment of beer you might like what I was given for Fathers Day this year, it was a three month membership in a beer of the month club. Each month I get an assortment of three botles of three microbrews. The first icluded was, Dock Street Philadelphia Amber which I enjoyed very much, also there was Dock Street Bohemian Pilsner, this was the best of the bunch to me, the last selection was Millstream Brewing Company’s Generations White Ale, slightly fruity but very good. I just got this months it has some interesting brews. he first is Sunday River Brewing Co.’s Black Bear Porter they say it is chocolaty with a coffee after taste. The second isSmuttynose Brewing Co.’s Shoals Pale Ale, which they claim to be an interpetation of a classic English ale also from Smutty Nose thete is 420 IPA It claims to have peppery hops with a carmel after taste. On another note we are waiting for the house to be completed, they tell us that we will close on Sept. 1. It looks like we will be today I was there and there was not a lot left to do.

It was SO HOT the day we moved I thought we would melt, we picked the hottest day of the year to date. I spent Monday moving the last items into storage, three truck loads to storage and one to the apartment. Now we wait for word from the builder when it is time for move number two. This week they started the brick work, the inside is wired, and plumbed to the basement and it is insulated. They expect to start hanging drywall this week. We were told to plan on the middle of September, I make no plans without it in writing! Barney now lives with his cousin Cicco in Milford, the apartment does not allow pets. The two of them will have some issues due to the age difference but it will work out.

Hello all, as most of you know Mary and I have been on vacation for the last two weeks. We got home Sunday afternoon our flight from New York landed about 4pm we were met by Val and Milla. We spent 3 days in the Big Apple with Sarah and Dave, saw the sights, ate in the restaurants, rode in the cabs ( we now know how to hail one of the 1,200 yellow cabs in NYC) We stayed in a hotel that was two blocks from Time Square ,it is not a square but a triangle. We had coffee on the roof of Daves 6 story walk up after waiting in line at the Italian bakery at 10:30pm to get some terrific treat, it is true the city never sleeps. Friday morning we hired a car to take us to Brooklyn to board the Crown Princess that would be our home for the next 9 days. This family known boats, but this was BIG I did not know that a ship could have 19 decks it had, 5 pools, 9 hot tubs, and 19 bars. We sailed South to Bermuda then farther South to San Juan Puerto Rico, then West to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands then North to Grand Turk Island, we then sailed for three days back to New York. If you ever want to relax and turn your brain off for some time a cruise is the way to bo it they do everything for you except eat and you do a lot of that all of the stories that you hear about cruise ships and food is true.
Now that we are back it is time to finish packing up here and move out, we must be out by the 22nd of July. It is amazing how much “stuff” you find in your home when you decide to move. We have decided to put our home on the market next week, we signed all the papers Sunday the date for the listing to begin is 04-05-06. Nick tells us that homes in our area are selling in about 55 days, we will test the theory. Back to the packing, We now have about 40 boxes packed in the basement and the house does look a lot less cluttered. When I pack this is the pattern, fill one or two boxes and fill one trash can, the trash men no longer like to come to our house. They tell us that they will start to dig the basement in 1-2 weeks, the story from the construction foreman is 5 months from the dig to move in, another theory to be tested. We are in the process of selecting all the stuff for the house siding color, shingle color, gutter color, trim color ceremaic tile color for each bathroom, foyer tile color, firepace tile color, counter top color for the kitchen…………………………. You get the picture. There are moments when I think you dumb ass why are you doing this to yourself. Time to go before I get caried away if I hven’t yet.
Will keep you all posted and post some photos of our dirt when I get a chance to figure that process out.

For those of you who do not know Mary and I have purchased a new house, well not yet a house, not even a hole in the ground, yet. If you want to see where we are going you can go to www.moceri.com them click on the link to Mill River. That is the development we will be in, then click on the cottages, that is the part we will be in. If you look at the site map we will be on lot #6. We hope to be in this summer, they told us the end of June but those of you that know builders that could be from the end of May to the end of August. Wish us luck we have never done this before, and to be honest is is exciting to plan and pick all of the things to go into the house. We have been looking for almost a year at this point for something but this is the first new construction that we looked at the rest were existing homes ranging from a home on the Huron river to homes over 100 years old but none of them felt right. I will post photos as it develops.

Well here we are awaiting the start of the game. We went downtown Friday night, it was amazing to see all the people and things going on in Detroit. I can only remember being there for the Freedom festival fireworks and seeing a bigger crowd of people I hope that they can keep it up and comtinue to draw people there.We had our chance to be part of some of the big festivities but missed out. Mary’s cousins daughter is were in town worhing with some big name people for her job with product placements. She called us about 3:00 Friday and invited us to watch the taping of the Jimmy Kimmel show from the greenroom backstage with free food and drinks and a chance to possibly see some of the stars. My children jumped at the chance to join us, we had a wake to visit for the mother of a close friend and got a late start. John, Val, Lisa and Nick went in one car and Mary and I drove on our own. With the traffic and all of the street closings we got seperated, to make a long story short they got in and we did not because by the time we got to the Gem Theater they had closed off the street to the parking garage and the Police would not let us in, my chance at glory denied by Detroits finest. We drove about a bit could find no where else to park and came home. Maybe next time I will have better luck, I hope one of them will share the experience with you all.
